Comparatives
• 较高级的比较级:
• 在比较短的形容词中 (只有一个或两个音节):
Bruno is older than Susie. 布鲁诺比苏西年纪大。
This surfboard is shorter than mine. 这个冲浪板比我的短。
只在简单过去时中，最后的辅音字母会被双写:
hot -> hotter (热 ->更热)
fat -> fatter (胖-> 更胖)
• 如果形容词很长，便会使用MORE ... THAN:
Kalvin Krime perfumes are more expensive than Delavigne perfumes. 卡文-克里姆香水比德拉维尼香水更贵。
重要: 并没有一个规定哪个形容词'短'或'长'的固定规则。所有一个音节的形容词被认为是短词，而两个音节的形容词有时被认为是短，有时被认为是长:
happy -> happier or more happy (高兴)
ugly -> uglier ou more ugly (丑)
• 较低级的比较级用LESS ... THAN :
Horatio is less comfortable in the city than he is in the jungle. 霍雷肖在城市里没有在丛林里舒服。
The Delavigne Corp sells products which are less expensive than its competitors' products.德拉维尼公司的产品比它对手公司的产品价格更低。
• 平级比较级使用AS ... AS:
Kevin is as old as Philip. 凯文和菲利普一样大。
I don't drink as much as he does. 我不像他那么能喝。

在否定式里，较低级的比较级会被使用NOT AS ... AS:
